I had had it on mind for sometime to do a painting standing at the same place Vincent van Gogh stood to paint the church at Auvers-sur-Oise. Also time lapsing it with the background scene and the painting on view. So during the evening of Sunday 28th July 2019 I thought shall I try in the morning or leave it till Wednesday. (Actually I hadn’t painted en plein-air for a while now and I was probably looking for an excuse not to do it) Anyway when the alarm went at 04:45 the next morning to my surprise I did get up and drove to the church. When I arrive sunrise is coming up to reveal a load of building works and a portable toilet in front of the church, affording me a second chance to leave it for another day. But I went for it, thinking I am here now.Read More

Here is the film of my painting of the Minerva Pub, in Looe Street Plymouth. While standing in the shade of a tree a lady who I had never met before asked me if I had enough water to drink. I said that I was being well looked after by Shelly, Martin and Kerri from the pub. She warned me to take care standing outdoors for so long on such a hot day and went on her way. An hour later she returns and hands me a large bottle of water, a sandwich and some grapes. Still no idea who this angel of mercy is.
This painting of the Marina Bar and Boardwalk at Sutton Harbour is the first of my Plymouth paintings project It was painted on Sunday 17th July 2016. It was auctioned at the CoppaFeel Charity Auction on Saturday 23rd July 2016 at the Marina Bar. It was a glorious Sunday down on Sutton Harbour. Thank you to Rob and all the staff at the Boardwalk and Marina Bar for looking after me on the day. Lovely to catch up with a few friends.
Here is a time lapse video of my painting of St Mary’s church Cherition Bishop completed during the wedding of Jono and Ali. Closing photos are of Jono and Ali’s reception at Higher Eggbeer where the film was played after the speeches. Special thanks to Bev, Alistair at Higher Eggbeer (who spent a good two hours helping me get the film presented), Michael Marker (Photographer), Milo (Cupcakes video) and Martin the vicar (who brought me his garden parasol when it started raining) for all your help and support.
Three years ago today I made my first time lapse of one of my paintings. It was at Torcross and I just focused on the painting. After a couple more my happy accident I started including the view behind the painting. Anyway here’s the first one.
